The assessment of ergonomics at the workplace becomes more and more important for manufacturing companies
worldwide to protect the health and performance of their workforce. Without an objective and analytical
assessment, risks caused by bad ergonomics may be overlooked, underestimated or their root causes cannot
be identified properly. Imminent health risks, inefficient work tasks and ineffective countermeasures can be the result.
To allow an objective and analytical assessment also in the given constraints of industrial practice the
EAWS was developed. With this comprehensive assessment tool trained practitioners are enabled to identify
risks, their causes and to derive effective solutions. New findings from research and experiences out of the
application in practice need to be considered in the further development of assessment methods.
At the 1st International Conference on Ergonomic Assessment in Industrial Practice scientist directly involved in the
development of assessment methods and practitioners will share their experiences with ergonomic assessments and
the development and application of the EAWS in particular.
The conference will take place from 1st to 2nd December 2011 in Germany, in Darmstadt at Georg-Christoph Lichtenberg-House.
As part of the conference will be held on 1st December 2011 at 02:30 p.m., a workshop (workshop 2) of MTM and
imk automotive GmbH is held with the theme " TiCon® & Ergonomic Assessment”.
MTM and imk automotive GmbH develop together a software module to integrate ergonomic assessments into the standard
software TiCon®. The “Editor of manual work activities - ema
" combines an objective ergonomic assessment with the known
functionality of TiCon®. The current status of this software tool is presented and will be discussed.
